Extractions in Stapleton, CO
Your teeth are an essential part of your overall health. We never opt to extract a tooth without a compelling reason.
At Central Park Dental, we do our best to save your natural teeth because typically it is the best option for your oral health and your wallet.
In some cases, however, removing a tooth becomes essential to protect your remaining teeth and eliminate pain. Only a dental exam can determine if you need an extraction.
When an Extraction Becomes Necessary
Some of the reasons teeth may require extraction include:
- Severe periodontal disease
- Impacted teeth (teeth that will not erupt)
- Misaligned teeth
- Baby (primary teeth) that do not come out
- A failed root canal
- Troublesome wisdom teeth
Convenient and Comfortable Care
Unlike most dental offices, you often will not need a referral to a specialist for the removal of your damaged tooth. We can expertly perform the treatment right here in our Denver dental office.
Dr. Karlyn Taylor provides gentle treatment in all cases and is experienced at dental extractions. You may have some apprehension regarding the removal of a tooth, but we will be with you every step of the way, making sure your procedure is painless and your recovery is a success.
Once we remove your tooth, you will receive post-surgical instructions. The mouth heals remarkably fast. In just a few days, healing will be well underway and you will see marked improvement. You will be completely healed within a couple of weeks.
Though it varies for everyone, a good rule of thumb is to avoid drinking through a straw or smoking, which may dislodge the healing tissue from your extraction. You should keep the area clean, but avoid pressure or washing the area with a WaterPik. Over-the-counter pain medication should help with any minor discomfort and swelling.
We will schedule a follow-up exam to make sure that healing is on track.
Tooth Replacement Options
In many cases, we can discuss tooth replacement options before we even extract your teeth.
We offer tooth-replacement options such as:
- Fixed dental bridges
- Dental implants
- Partial dentures
- Complete dentures
We can take the preliminary steps toward planning your smile before scheduling your extraction.
